ADULT JEWISH GROWTH: Debra Booker/Mixon Ware, Co-Chairs
As education is a core value of Judaism, the mission of the Adult Jewish Growth Committee is to facilitate intellectual and cultural exploration among the Temple’s adult members. This growth is meant to develop the individual’s understanding of Judaism in all its aspects (including religion, culture, history, and contemporary issues), and to strengthen bonds within the Temple, with other Jewish organizations, and with the larger Lexington community. The Committee works to achieve these goals by organizing classes on religious and secular subjects, conducting group study and discussion sessions, sponsoring speakers and special events, and when appropriate, working with other TAI committees and outside organizations that is consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
ARCHIVES: Garry Hoover/Lowell Nigoff, Co-Chairs
The Archives Committee maintains the archives for the members of our congregation and visitors to our building to make use of archived information concerning the history of the Temple. The committee also gathers and looks after the information and items at the Temple related to the local history of our members and Temple community.
BUDGET:
The mission of the Temple’s Budget Committee is to develop an annual budget for the approval of the Board of Trustees’ and subsequently the congregation. The Budget Committee is responsible for the allocation of Temple’s monies, including, but not limited to budgetary concerns of staff compensations, operations, fixed assets and expenditures, programming, property maintenance and repair, and other services for the upcoming fiscal year. In this role, the Budget Committee formulates annual revenue models and integrates expenditure priorities that are expressed though the needs of the Temple community that is consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
BY-LAWS: Harriett Rose, Chair
The By laws Committee, as needed, reviews, and revises the Temple by-laws and Governing Policies and recommends such changes to Executive Committee that are consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
CARING CONNECTIONS: Deb Kratzer/Julie McKee, Co-Chairs
The mission of the Caring Connections Committee is to fulfill the mitzvah of performing acts of loving kindness. The committee offers assistance to members in times of crisis and need. The committee provides a communication network to the TAI community and sponsors the monthly Chavurat Chochma Luncheon and its programs that are consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
COLLEGE: Anne Graff/Lisa Taulbee, Co-Chairs
The College Committee maintains contact with students attending colleges in the Lexington area and children of Temple members attending out-of-town colleges.
DECORATING: Susan Goldstein/Odette Kaplan/Bonnie Sobel/Rose Rita Wurmser, Contacts
The Decorating committee develops and implements plans to maintain the overall concept of the design of the Temple building and grounds.
ELECTIONS: Charles/Leona Stern, Co-Chairs
The Election Committee prepares Board of Trustee election information and ballots and conducts election according to by-laws. It is responsible for counting the ballots, and reporting the results.
FINIANCIAL RESOURCES & DEVELOPMENT: Stephen Auer/Barry Gerall/Dale Schermer, Co-Chairs
The Financial Resources and Development Committee works in conjunction with the Treasurer, Administrator and the Endowment Committee in the identification and development of short and long-term resources for financial growth. The Committee reviews membership commitments and contributions to identify opportunities for enhancing Temple revenue. The Committee reports to the Board of Trustees.
FUNDRAISING: Ruth Poley/Pat Shraberg, Contacts
The Mission of the Fundraising Committee is to generate money to support programming, property maintenance, education and overall expenditures of the Temple. This is accomplished by designing and implementing fund raising initiatives and projects that, while bringing in revenue, also focuses on the interests and education of our Temple community. Such fundraising initiatives and projects will be held in a manner that is consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
GREEN TEAM: Rose Garden/Mickey Hernandez, Co-Chairs
The Green Team Committee promotes environmental awareness and practices at the Temple and in our daily lives. The committee provides continuous awareness of taking ecological care of our community.
LIBRARY: Bobbi Fried, Chair
The Library Committee maintains the library for the members of our congregation as well as visitors to our building. The library serves as a means of research, enjoyment, and enlightenment in the tradition of Judaism, Reform Judaism and the Temple’s history.
LONG RANGE PLANNING:
The Long Range Planning Committee broadly defines and develops goals for the future of the Temple Community that are consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE: Jack Joffe/Lowell Nigoff/Ruth Poley, Co-Chairs
The Membership and Outreach Committee is charged with attracting new individuals and families, integrating them into the Temple family, and retaining their participation and involvement in this community. This committee seeks to provide a welcoming environment for all new and prospective members, and actively pursue means to keep congregants interested and engaged in our congregation. To this end the committee aims to provide support and education to Temple members—both those already involved and those with limited involvement—interfaith families, and unaffiliated Jews, through programs designed to educate and enhance their connection to the Adath Israel community that are consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
MUSIC and WORSHIP: Judy Engelberg/Kae Schennberg, Co-Chairs
The mission of the Worship and Music Committee is to enhance the worship experience of our congregation with a variety of services and music in a welcoming, warm, and spiritual atmosphere that is consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
PERSONNEL:
The Personnel Committee is responsible for the personnel policies of the Temple. It also periodically reviews the Temple’s personnel policies and job descriptions to maintain the ongoing needs of the Temple’s personnel issues. The work of the Personnel Committee reflects the philosophy of the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
PRESCHOOL: Mary Engel/Pat Shraberg, Co-Chairs
The Preschool Committee assists the Preschool Director with Preschool planning and is the liaison between the Preschool and the Temple Board.
PROPERTY: Micah Kaufman, Chair
Coordinating with the Temple Administrator and reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Property Committee identifies deficiencies in the building and surrounding property, develops and oversees implementation of plans for maintenance, repair and improvement of the Temple facility and the Temple grounds.
PUBLICATIONS: Amy Messer, Chair
The Publications Committee coordinates the preparation, proofreading, printing, and distribution of Temple Directory and assists with scheduling, layout, editing and preparation of bulletin and other publications from the Temple. Publication Committee is involved in the dissemination of information through publications, utilizing paper and on-line resources.
SOCIAL ACTION: Barry Gerall/Nancy Schoenberg, Co-Chairs
The Social Action Committee functions as the Temple’s gateway for congregants to participate in projects that repair our world (tikun olam) within the Temple community as well as our local and world communities. These projects are consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
TECHNOLOGY: Garry Hoover, Chairs
The Technology Committee is responsible for assuring the Temple is up to date in computer hardware, software, website, and other currently available technology that facilitates the operation of the Temple.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES: TRYB
The Youth Activities Committee serves to support the activities of Temple Youth Groups through assisting in organizing and attending meetings, programs, events and other such needs as may arise. The Youth Activities Committee also creates and coordinates programs for Temple youth that are consistent with the Temple’s Mission and Vision Statements.
YOUTH EDUCATION: Debbie Masters, Chair
The Youth Education Committee assists the Youth Education Director with Religious School planning and its budget.
