The two year old class meets two days a week and is an introduction to preschool. We have a weekly theme, but the emphasis is on having fun. Children learn through play, so I meet that need by offering them a variety of toys, art supplies and manipulatives to choose from, and a safe, warm environment in which to explore and use their imaginations. During our day, we have a short circle time, during which we sit together to read a story, and I introduce a few basic concepts (colors, numbers 1-10). Afterwards, we sing and dance, make crafts, have a snack, and learn about group play through easy games and activities. Assistant teacher Renee Mullins, helps me keep the focus on fun as we learn about sharing, taking turns, and caring for one another.
